US plot to partition Syria doomed to failure

Mehr News – Velayati, senior advisor to Leader said on Friday that efforts by the US to divide Syria in the East of Euphrates were doomed to failure. Leader’s Aide on International Affairs, Ali Akbar Velayati, made the remarks at a meeting with Lebanese Parliament Speaker, Nabih Berri, in Beirut on Friday when both sides mulled over bilateral issues and regional developments.

Following the session, Velayati described his talks with Berri as excellent and constructive saying “Tehran attaches great significance to Berri and his political status in Lebanon.” The official, while felicitating Lebanon’s recent victories against Takfiri terrorist groups, noted that “Tehran and Beirut both agree that recent triumphs in Lebanon, Syria and Iraq against the terrorists are in fact the victory of the Resistance Front and would benefit the entire region.”

He went on to underlined that the US and Zionist regime were after creating differences and confronting the Resistance Front hence the huge pressure on Syria to admit defeat. “The US is planning to divide Syria in East Euphrates though it will never obtain this sinister objective,” underscored Ali Akbar Velayati asserting “the city of Raqqa will be liberated by the Syrian nation and government and they will certainly take control of eastern Euphrates.”

Velayati, who arrived in Beirut on Thursday to attend the meeting of the International Union of Resistance Scholars, also held separate talks with Secretary General of the Lebanese Hezbollah Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah. The two sides discussed latest regional developments in a meeting on Friday evening.
